Seven companies that have won the bid for a contract of the the Mandalay International Airport’s expansion made an onsite visit to make a last inspection before the official announcement as to which company will be awarded with the contract.
“One of the companies among the seven who had passed tender will be chosen. Companies applied for tender can visit here and study the airport during April and May. In June, we are going to make the final selection. In July, complete transfer will be made,” General Manager Soe Lwin of Mandalay International Airport said.
There were a total of 16 companies that placed their name for the bid and went through the first phase of the screening that selected only seven firms.
The aim is to transform the Mandalay International Airport into Airport Logistic Hub.
Officials from France and Japan who had passed first tender came Mandalay this month to study the airport.
The preliminary study that chose the seven companies is made depending upon the facts such as strong finance, experience from the relevant field, skilled workers and full accessibility of machinery and equipment.
“We will transform Mandalay International Airport into a major commercial airport for central Myanmar. We will open another auction for second phase near future,” an official from the Directorate of Civil Aviation said.
