Starbucks looks to blend into Myanmar

Starbuck’s CEO Howard Schultz told reporters in Bangkok on Monday that Myanmar is one of the coffee chain’s targeted countries to expand into in the near future.

“Within the next couple of years, I’d say,” said Schultz, on a visit to mark the chain’s 15-year anniversary in Thailand.

The Seattle-founded company plans to double its Thai coffeehouses to 320 within the next five years and recently launched its first shops in Vietnam and India.

The announcement comes following the entry of two other major US companies—Ford and Coca Cola—into Myanmar.
