Low cost housings to be implemented across the country

Low cost housings will be implemented in Yangon and Mandalay, as well as in states in need of housings, according to Ministry of Construction.

At present, Yangon is in need of housings and low cost housings are implemented to match with increasing numbers of population.

Moreover, the government is upgrading Pyithawthar housing project.

Similarly the government is implementing a low cost housing project in Mandalay region.

“Currently Shwelinpan low cost housing project has started constructing in the Hlaingtharyar Township. Ayeyawon from Dagon Seikkan Township and Yadanar affordable housings are implementing in Yangon. Moreover we are discussing with Mandalay region government to construct low cost housing project,” said Yu Khine, Director of Department of Human Settlement and Housing Development under the Ministry of Construction.

Shwelinpan low cost housing has 32 four-storied buildings and Ayeyawon from Dagon Seikkan Township and Yadanar affordable housings have 49 eighteen-storied buildings.

“We are planning to construct low cost housings across the country but initially we need to discuss with respective governments. The department will provide urban planning and architectural designs. The respective governments need to grant land for the housings. We need to make further discussion with them in details. We will be obliged to construct the low cost housings,” an official from the ministry said.
