YANGON—Construction of the “Vintage Luxury” floating hotel in Botahtaung Township is nearly complete and the hotel will open in January, sources say.
“Decoration of the outer parts of the hotel is finished. We are now decorating the inner parts (of the hotel). We expect to open it in late January,” said a spokesperson of Hla Hla Pa Pa Company, which has been implementing the project in Botahtaung harbour area.
The hotel will include 104 double rooms, two dining rooms, and bars.
At present, construction of two wharves at Botahtaung Harbour is expected to finish soon.
The company bought a 2,000-tonne cruise ship from Finland to run the hotel. Decoration of the ship, which arrived in Myanmar on
August 18, has been underway at Myanmar Shipyard since September. The ship is 106 metres in length, 18.4 metres wide and two metres in depth.
Last year, the Myanmar Port Authority (MPA) planned in July to expand the land at Botahtaung Harbour from the No. 3 wharf to No. 1 inland cargo wharf.
