Tenders for Kyaukphyu SEZ to open on September 15

Twelve companies will be invited submit tenders to develop Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone in Rakhine State, according to the Kyaukphyu SEZ tenders invitation and selection committee.

All 12 had previously submitted expressions of interest and they will be invited to submit tenders on September 15,” said committee member Ba Shwe.

Kyaukphyu SEZ consists of three projects: a deep-sea port, industrial zone and residential zone. A tender process will be carried out for each of the projects.

Five companies expressed interest in port construction, four in the industrial zone and three in the residential zone.

The tender selection process will follow international standards, officials said. One company will be selected for each of the three projects in the SEZ, which is located on a 4000-acre plot near Kyaukphyu Township in Rakhine State.
