Ministry to announce the list of 1,000 top tax payers

The list of 1,000 top tax payers who has paid tax volume ranging from below the Ks. 50 million (US$50,000) to above Ks. 10,000 million (US$10 million) will be announced this week, according to a senior official of the Internal Revenue Department.

After submitting the top tax payers’ list to the Parliament, the Ministry of Finance has already received the list back and will announce it later this week, said Min Htut, director general of Internal Revenue Department.

The announcement on December 13 or 14 will be published in the state-owned newspapers and put on the website of the Finance Ministry.

This year’s top tax payers list will include business people who were not in last year’s list and contain more tax payers, according to the Internal Revenue Department.

In 2011-2012 FY, the total tax volume collected was Ks. 1538.766 billion (US$1538.766 million), in 2012-2013 FY, Ks. 2710.906 billion (US$2710.906 million), and in 2013-2014 FY, Ks. 3582.360 billion (US$3582.360 million).

Top commercial-tax payers of 2012-2013 FY were Myanmar Brewery Ltd, Rothmans of Pall Mall Myanmar Pte Ltd, Dagon Beverages Co Ltd, International Beverages Trading Co Ltd, Myanmar CP Livestock Co Ltd, City Mart Holding Co Ltd, Premier Coffee Co Ltd, Yathar Cho Industry Ltd, Max (Myanmar) Manufacturing Co Ltd, and Straits Green Field Ltd (Sedona Hotel – YGN).

Top income-tax payers of the same FY were Kanbawza Bank Ltd, Myanmar Brewery Ltd, International Beverages Trading Co Ltd, Myanmar CP Livestock Co Ltd, and Shwe Taung Development Co Ltd.

Within the first six months of 2014-2015 FY, collected tax volume of the Union is Ks. 2,529,009.929 million (US$2,529.009929 million) and this volume exceeds the estimated volume, according to the Union Tax Report.
