Yoma Strategic Holdings has opened a newly-built US$5 million ($7 million) multi-temperature storage facility in Yangon through Kospa, a 50-50 joint venture company with Kokubu Corp.
Established in 1712, Kokubu Corp. is one of the largest companies in Japan engaging in the food distribution business with over US$15 billion of sales annually.
The storage facility is located on Highway 3 at the Yangon exit of the Naypitdaw–Mandalay highway in the Mingaladon township.
The 4,500 sqm facility includes fully racked storage chambers with independently managed and controlled storage temperature conditions.
The storage chambers will cater to temperatures ranging from ambient to frozen (–18 degrees Celsius) and will be ISO and HACCP compliant.
“The modern warehouse management system will allow advanced inventory management solutions to be offered to clients,” says Yoma.
The facility is also designed to serve both large- and small-scale clients as truck docking facilities are adjustable to allow for maximum flexibility.
Yoma says it intends to build a network of end-to-end cold chain logistics facilities throughout Myanmar.
Since Oct 2014, Kospa has been operating a fleet of multi-temperature controlled trucks serving a range of customers from the Fast-Moving Consumer Group, agricultural, pharmaceutical and hotel industries.
