Mar 24, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Continental Shipping Lines’ “Pathien Star” made it’s inaugural call at the Jaya Container Terminal in Colombo yesterday.
The vessel is scheduled to leave for Port Yangon of Myanmar soon.
“This is the first time that a direct cargo link has been established between Colombo and Yangon opening a new opportunity for Sri Lankan exports to explore this market,” Ruby Dole, general Manager, SAR Maritime Agencies which acts as the local agents of the shipping line, said in a statement.
“This service, will no doubt boost the volumes handling in the Colombo port, while also serve the main line operators with a speedy connection via Colombo to Europe and East Coast of India.”
The vessel has a capacity of 1468 TEU and can accommodate large cargo as well as small parcels, the company said.
