Commerce Ministry to launch fully online licensing system next month

AS part of its 100-day plan, the commerce ministry will launch a fully online licensing system in June, according to an official from the ministry at a meeting to boost awareness about the system in Yangon yesterday.

“The online licensing system aims to save time for the applicants and is scheduled to be launched next month,” said ministry director general U Yan Naing Tun.

“As we all know, Yangon-based businesses and firms have faced difficulties in the licensing process since the government ministries moved to Nay Pyi Taw,” said the director-general.

Although the ministry introduced an online system allowing businesspeople to apply for licences online since 2014, it has remained necessary to take out the licences in person at the ministry.

“The new system will be of great benefit to businesspeople,” said , UMFCCI vice president Dr Myo Thant.
