DB Schenker sets up logistics entity in Myanmar

Schenker Myanmar will manage contract logistics business operations for customers in the telecommunications, and consumer goods industries. Schenker Myanmar will have over 80 employees operating the Contract Logistics & warehousing business, while the Yangon Branch of Schenker Thailand will continue to handle freight, customs clearance and transport operations.

“Myanmar has seen a significant increase in investments and activities in Infrastructure, manufacturing and distribution, since the lifting of sanctions in 2012. We can enable the development and growth of the Myanmar market by bringing our expertise and technology in warehouse design & management, as well as employ and train the Myanmar talent pool with warehouse & supply chain management skills, to serve our customers’ needs,” says Nay Htoo Aung, general manager, Schenker Myanmar Company Limited.

DB Schenker has been operating in Myanmar since 1999, as the Yangon Branch of Schenker Thailand, providing freight forwarding services.

This also follows the incorporation of a 100 percent -owned business entity in Cambodia in 2014, as well as in Laos in 2013.
