OUT of 338 pearl lots, 312 were sold for Ks4bn (3.12m Euro) through a competitive bidding system and tender system at the 53th Myanmar Gem Emporium that kicked off on last Friday in Naypyitaw.
More than 510 gems lots will be on sale tomorrow at the emporium.
Foreign merchants from China, India, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Australia as well as local merchants competed to buy the lots through the tender system yesterday. The emporium kicked off in Naypyitaw, with a Ks65m (50,000 Euro) deposit required of foreign merchants.
The duration of the emporium may be extended depending on the number of uncut jade lots and gem lots to be exhibited by sellers, according to the committee responsible for holding the emporium.—Myanmar News Agency
