Mast erCard and Visa card customers of Co-operative Bank (CB Bank) can now deposit a minimum of US$10 through Mobile Banking of CB Bank, it is learnt from an announcement released by CB Bank on 11th October.
Previously, MasterCard and Visa card users had to deposit a minimum of US$50. But they can now make deposit of US$10 into their accounts. However, they still need to initially deposit US$50 when opening the accounts, and can then pay US$10 into their accounts thereafter, it is learnt.
The money can be deposited into MasterCard and Visa through mobile banking with their own local currency account, after calculating the prevailing dollar price.
Account holders at CB Bank can now easily make use of mobile banking, which can facilitate remittance to other bank accounts, phone top-up, payment for online shopping, nbill payment for car tickets, air tickets etc with the corporations linked with CB Bank.
Use of credit cards and mobile banking is slowly gaining acceptance.
“I am not used to utilizing mobile banking yet”, said Ko Thiha, a local merchant. “It is good the phone top-up can be bought with mobile banking. This system can also facilitate online payment. However, the withdrawal with ATM cards is sometimes disturbing because of the breakdown of ATM machines”.
