The export of rice and broken rice as of 30th September in the 2016-2017 fiscal year fetched over US$177million, with a total volume of over 510,000 tonnes.
The export value of rice and broken rice in this fiscal year has slumped by over US$63million when compared to that of a similar period in the last fiscal year, it is learnt from the statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce.
The export volume of rice and broken rice within six months of this fiscal year totalled 514,448 tonnes worth US$177.272million, with the rice export volume of over 387,000 tonnes worth over US$139million and with the broken rice volume of over 127,000 tonnes worth over US$38million, it is learnt.
During the last week of September, 7,717 tonnes of rice worth US$2.892million were exported to China through China-Myanmar border trade camps. The export volume of rice slumped by 1,665 tonnes compared to that of the third week of September.
In a similar period, 1,480 tonnes of broken rice worth US$0.481million were also exported to China through border camps.
During last month, 35,856 tonnes of rice worth US$13.193million and 5,747 tonnes of broken rice worth US$1.868million were exported to China. However, the export volume of rice and broken rice respectively declined when compared to a similar period of last fiscal year.
