Chinese top list of those who faced deportation due to visa rules violations

Among those who faced deportation due to violation of visa rules in Mandalay Region, Chinese citizens are the most numerous, according to Immigration Department officials in Mandalay Region.

Action is being taken against those who fail to follow the country’s existing laws as well as culture- related rules and regulations, said U Win Myint, deputy head of the department.

According to official figures of the department, 16 foreign nationals were deported by authorities as of mid-October this year. Of that group, 13 were Chinese citizens, two Bangladeshi and one Russian. A total of 38 foreigners, including 28 Chinese citizens, six Bangladeshis, two Indians and two Koreans, were deported last year.

A local resident said there are many Chinese citizens in Mandalay, mostly found in hotels and guest houses. Some of them working in the region cannot speak the Myanmar language.

Authorities have urged local people to inform them immediately when they find foreign nationals living in the region without legal documents.
