Out of export and import license seekers through border areas, the number of cement import license seekers is found to be the highest in Myitkyina, Kachin State.
The cement licensees are the highest there because there are not many license seekers in Myitkyina, said U Htein Lin, the assistant director from Myitkyina import and export office.
Over 3,500 tonnes of cement have been permitted for import in this fiscal year 2016-2017 by the Myitkyina office. The importers are applying for permission to import Chinese made Teng Yue and US$80 will be levied on the import of a tonne of cement, it is learnt.
Ginger, rubber, rice and Penang bags are also exported through Myitkyina. Twenty tonnes of ginger, 100 tonnes of rubber, 500 tonnes of rice and 60 tonnes of Penang bags have already been exported this year, according to the statistics of trade promotion department under the Ministry of Commerce. There are three offices at which the trade license is granted in Kachin State: Kan Pike Tee, Lwe Je and Myitkyina.
