The Myanmar Automatic Cargo Clearance System (MACCS) is slated to launch on 12th November by the Myanmar Customs Department.
The new system is expected to help Myanmar meet its obligations, as a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), to implement a single window system that allows traders to submit regulatory paperwork through a single entity. Trade departments will cooperate in linking with electronic data in the system.
Currently, lists are usually needed to attach to the invoice in seeking import license because of many items and unit codes. This can cause problems in MACCS to provide the exact data and valuations of the commodities. The attached lists are no longer needed when seeking a license in this automated system. The license seekers are encouraged to mention all data in the invoice so that MACCS can properly process the request.
The following particulars are required in the invoice: address of merchant and purchaser, description of goods, specifications of the brand, unit code/quantity, unit price, total amount, country of origin, country of loading, port of discharge, payment of destination, mode of transport/method of shipment, bank name and shipment date/ shipment period, it is learnt from the Commerce Ministry.
