Myanma Railway plans to keep squatters out from the land owned by the railway in Mandalay region, it is learnt. The effort is in its early stages and it is not yet known when the plan will begin, officials said.
“We cannot say when the project will be implemented. There are a lot of squatters in the railway compound.
The squatting problem is the main problem to solve by the new government,” said General Manager U Myo Win of the Myanma Railway.
“Initially, we will issue notices to the squatters before action is taken”, he added.
Previously, Myanma Railway posted sign boards that read: “Do not occupy the railway’s land”, but squatters amended the signs so they read: “Do not occupy the farmer’s land”.
