Myanmar entrepreneurs and Thai events companies have agreed to cooperate in developing Myanmar’s young expo event industry, after a meeting in Yangon late last month.
This was the first time a international events organisers have met with local entrepreneurs in Myanmar with plans to hold more meetings in other ASEAN countries.
“Companies from Thailand will bring their experience to Myanmar and help fulfill the requirement of Myanmar’s entrepreneurs,” said Mr. Pakainay Leng-Ee, a diplomat at the Royal Thai Embassy.
“Thai companies have more than 20 years of experience in the event organising industry. Working together with Thai events companies will mean Myanmar companies save time and efforts finding relevant partners from other places,” said Pakainay Leng-Ee.
Thailand has long been a regional leader in holding expos but Thai organisers would like to bring them to other ASEAN countries with the support of the Thailand Trade Promotion Centre, said Anant Prasertsit, managing director of company Expovision.
“They’ve come to meet with potential Myanmar partners and hopefully work together in future, it’s a win win situation,” said Dr Maung Maung Lay, vice-president of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
The Thai delegation involved at the meeting featured representatives of Diversified Communication, PCO International and NCC Exhibition Organizer among others.
