Trade Between Myanmar and Middle East Tops $300m

Total trade between Myanmar and Mid­dle Eastern coun­tries reached $332.874 million in the first 10 months of this fiscal year, 2016-2017, official media reported.

Myanmar made $100 million through exports to these countries during the period while import values reached over $231 million.

Myanmar mainly ex­ports fishery products, agriculture products such as beans and pulses and rice to Middle East coun­tries.

The total bilateral trade in the last fiscal year 2015-2016 amounted to $381.351 million.

Myanmar is aiming to boost exports in the long, medium and short term plans, and it will be looking to major trade partners to achieve that, including China, India, Thailand, Singapore, Ma­laysia and some European countries. Xinhua
