DHL Supply Chain, the world’s leading contract logistics provider, has announced it will invest Bt2.7 billion in growing its regional footprint in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar by 2020.
DHL Supply Chain is already a market leader in Thailand and Vietnam and in July 2017, the company was the first 100 per cent foreign-owned logistics company to acquire an investment permit from the Myanmar Investment Commission.
It said it will concentrate on Cambodia next for further growth opportunities.
Over the next three years, the company plans to build new facilities, expand its fleet of trucks, and invest in new technology, creating an additional 5,000 jobs in the four countries.
DHL said its investment will also serve the wider needs of a growing Thailand, and an economy which is expected to return to accelerated growth.
It said Thai government investment in mega projects, such airport expansions and the Eastern Economic Corridor, are attractive elements for foreign investors in Thailand.
According to Kasikorn Bank research, the Thai land transport and warehouse market value in 2017 is expected to grow up to 7 per cent.

DHL Supply Chain Thailand recently completed a move to new premises at the G Tower Building in the Rama 9 business area in Bangkok.
It said the move is another step in its ongoing efforts to enhance “award-winning services and in-depth expertise in value-added services for integrated end-to-end supply chain solutions to better serve existing and new customers”.
It said it benefited from a reputation of being the leader in contract logistics in Thailand, and its nationwide network comprises a combined warehouse space of approximately 650,000 square metres across more than 70 facilities and supported by 10,000 employees.
