Uniforms of private security guards to be standardized

Uniforms of employees of private security companies will be streamlined to a specification to be determined by national police, the Ministry of Home Affairs said Wednesday.

The ministry’s move was prompted by a need for a standard dress code because employees of private security companies often wear uniforms that resemble those worn by police or even some armed ethnic groups, said Aung Zaw Win, director of the Planning Department at the ministry.

“A committee was formed to look into the matter and set the specifications,’’ he said.

Last month, the ministry announced it would take action against secuity guards dressed in uniforms with any similarity to those worn by the police force.
