Myanmar Port Authority to accept a new Tug Boat

A new Tug Boat constructed by Myanmar Shipyards Joint Venture Company will be transferred to Myanmar Port Authority according to Myanmar Port Authority.

“The boat has been constructed and it is now on a test run. Soon, we’ll be transferring it to the Myanmar Port Authority,” said an unnamed official from Myanmar Shipyards Joint Venture Company.

When international vessels enter Myanmar’s port, they have to enter and exit at the Yangon’s sea mouth which is 64 Kilometers from Yangon Port. Chief Navigators from Myanmar Port Authority have to lead these foreign vessels to reach safely to their destinations.

As the international vessels have large amount of engine powers. If they enter using their vessels’ engines, there are possibilities of accidents occuring and so Tugboats are used from either side of the international vessels.

There are 5 Tugboats owned by Myanmar Port Authority and two more with 5000 HP engine will be constructed in the coming year.
Besides, Myanmar Port Authority is constructing offshore fixed pilot station using more than US$ 20 million. It will be a three storey building.
