Water purification plant to be built near Letpadaungtaung copper project

MONYWA- Thailand and Myanmar will invest US$5 million to build a water purification plant near Letpadaungtaung copper mining project in Monywa, Sagaing Region, according to the Directorate of Investment and Companies Administration (DICA) in Sagaing Region.

“The investment volume is $5 million. Myanmar is going to build a plant together with a Thai Company. Currently, we can’t disclose the name of Thai company that carried out feasibility survey for construction of water purification plant in Letpadaungtaung region last month. We don’t yet know the proposed site for the plant,” said Than Zaw Oo, Director of Sagaing Region DICA.

Sagaing Region’s DICA supports the plan on construction of water purification plant near Letpadaungtaung copper mining project as the region already needs to get the purified water, according to Than Zaw Oo.

Moreover, a proposal to produce advanced conduits and purified copper being produced from Letpadaungtaung already has been submitted but the final discussion with DICA in Sagaing Region has yet to happen, says Than Zaw Oo.
