JICA’s Create Team, MoI meet on improving quality of school textbooks

Japan International Cooperation Agency’s Create Team (Curriculum Reform at Primary Level of Basic Education), which is working with MoI for printing school textbooks, outlined the requirements for improving the quality of textbooks at the Ministry of Information yesterday.
Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun, in his capacity as the chairman of the Committee for Accepting and Scrutinizing Tender for School Textbooks, delivered the opening remarks.
Afterwards, Mr. Fumitaka Sato, Printing Technology Specialist and Project Coordinator of Hikari Miyahara at JICA, discussed applicable standards and raw materials for improving the quality of school textbooks, the requirements for printing textbooks, and cooperation with JICA.
In another meeting on printing of school textbooks for the 2019-2020 academic year, U Myo Myint Maung, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, reported on the status of printing, production target, working with private printers, and work done by the Printing and Publishing Department.
Afterwards, U Aung Myo Myint, the Director-General of the Printing and Publishing Department, reported on the arrival of raw materials for printing of textbooks for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Representatives from the Myanmar Printing and Publishing Association (Yangon), the Upper Myanmar Printing and Publishing Association (Mandalay), and the Excellent Printing Group made suggestions at the meeting. The meeting came to an end with concluding remarks by the deputy minister.
