Daewoo Bus Myanmar Company managing director Dr. Kyaw Kyaw Aung said that the company would open service centres for the domestically manufactured vehicles, in Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyitaw.

“We have established a service centre in Htaukkyant, Yangon and we have a plan to open more service centres in Mandalay and Naypyitaw,” Dr. Kyaw Kyaw Aung said.

Daewoo Bus Myanmar, which will manufacture and assemble minibus and city bus in Myanmar, said at pre-production press conference held on February 28 at Union of Myanmar Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) that the service centres would be opened in three cities.

Daewoo will start production of Daewoo City Bus model BS 106 and Lester minibus in March this year and the prices of these commercial vehicles are about US$ 85,000 for a city bus and about US$ 45,000 for a minibus.

So the company will open five in Yangon, two in Naypyitaw and one in Mandalay.

Daewoo also said that 16 Myanmar engineers to be employed in these service centres had been sent to South Korea in January this year for on-job training.

Daewoo Bus Myanmar was established in Myanmar in March 2017 on 14-acre plot in Htaukkyant, Mingladon, Yangon, owned by Ministry of Ministry on a long-term lease and they built a new manufacturing plant on this plot.
