The Yangon American International School for primary and post primary students will be opened in August, said school principal Mr Robert Crutchfield during a press briefing on Thursday.
The school, which is located along the Yangon-Insein road in Hlaing township, is receiving an average of 100 inquiries per day from parents interested in sending their children to the school, according to Crutchfield.
The school is accepting children as young as two-years-old and plans to add additional grade levels each year, he added.
Tuition for children between two and three-years-old is set at US$7500 (K11.45 million) per year and the fees for the other classes is pegged at US$15,000.
“The important thing for a school is teachers. We will teach a curriculum that aligns with international standard,” Crutchfield said.
The school is built on a 2322 square metre site with the approval granted by the Myanmar Investment Commission.
International teaching methods would be used to develop creativity and imagination of the students, he added.
According the school’s officials, teaching aids such as smart boards and tablets will be used for effective teaching and learning. The school will feature a dedicated hall for physical activities, multi-purpose sports field, library and teaching-aids hall.
“In the future, the school will expand up to offer Grade 12 American curriculum, according to Darius Shey, senior advisor of Myanmar Strategic Holdings(MSH).
The students will be taught by certified graduate teachers from US universities who are masters’ degree holders. The school is run and managed by MSH.
