First Myanmar RoboLeague 2019 held in Yangon

The First Myanmar RoboLeague 2019 was held in Theinbyu Stadium in Yangon Region on June 1, with opening speeches by Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister for Education and Mr Scot Marciel, ambassador of the United States to Myanmar.

The USAID is supporting the RoboLeague competition, together with the Ministry of Education and Phandeeyar.

It is aimed at sharing knowledge and experiences among the students from 14 universities and colleges of regions and states and boost confidence and cooperation.

“This technological advance is directly related to economic prospects of Myanmar.

This is because robotic technology is very essential for the emergence of robust IT sector. Myanmar is full of favorable conditions in IT sector.

This IT will help bring about better prospects in different aspects of the country,” said Mr Scot Marciel.

The winning team will represent Myanmar in a Global Robotics Challenge to be held in UAE in October.

The Phandeeyar already sent the teams representing Myanmar to the Global Robotics Challenge for two times.

Myanmar stood at the sixth position in the First Global Robotics Challenge held in Washington D.C in the United States of America in 2017, securing highest scores in the Asian countries. Moreover, it stood at the 64th position in 186 countries held in Mexico in 2018.
