Mega Ace Cineplex’s new luxury Royal Class

Things are looking up for movie fans in Myanmar, not only with exciting new local productions – aided by the recent Memory Film Festival, and the arrival of international film superstars to our shores – but also for emerging cinema chains.

Cinema chains have started offer movie-goers a sense of luxury they’ve never experienced before.
Among few the major chains in Myanmar, the Mega Ace Cineplex just celebrated its ribbon-cutting “Royal Class” experience last weekend at their Times Mall, Times City Complex on Kyun Taw Road, Kamayut. As the latest luxury cinema to open this year, it introduces Myanmar’s first family-friendly hall – which is great news for parents and parents-to-be.

“We want parents to enjoy their precious time with their kids at the cinema,” said Daw Thael Thient Wah, managing director of Mega Ace Cinemas. “For me, cinema is a great place to spend my time with friends and family. And it is also the perfect place to unwind, and relieve stress,” she told Metro.
The opening event was held on December 6, and was attended by a number of celebrities, actors, filmmakers and government officials.

First entering the cinema business in 2014, the Mega Ace Cinemas Group has opened 9 cinemas across the country with a total of 23 screens – in Yangon and other cities across the country. The Royal Class experience is the very first luxury cinema, which includes six screens: a children’s cinema, two VIP cinemas and three premium cinemas, alongside their VIP lounge and food cafeterias.

“All the cinema facilities will offer privacy and comfort for our patrons. I’m sure we can support the customers to feel cozy when watching the films, just like they are watching from their own homes,” Daw Thael Theint Wah said.
Among the six cinemas, the children’s cinema features two types of colourful seats and lounges. Up to 42 people can be seated in the same time inside of each premium cinema, where movie-goers can recline and watch their favourite movies in luxury. For the two VIP cinemas, with a capacity for 30 people, patrons can enjoy the super-sized reclining leather seats.

Mingalar Co Ltd, which owned largest cinemas, also opened its first Gold Class cinema earlier this year, after JCGV cinemas introduced its Premium Cinemas in March. Building on its success, JCGV then opened a second luxury cinema – Cine & Foret, where the cinema is decked out like an enchanted forest.
Ticket prices for the Royal Class experience at the Mega Ace Cineplex start from K6000 to K15000.
