doing business in myanmar – what you need to know as a singaporean
Ooredoo Myanmar has opened a centre to support the business initiatives of young entrepreneurs, said Rajeev Sethi, the company’s chief executive officer.
The centre, called the Innovation Hub, was opened at the headquarters of Ooredoo Myanmar in Yangon, he said.
The facility provides technology and network support to help the start-ups of young entrepreneurs penetrate the market.
The project is supported by the United Nations Development Programme with the aim of providing Myanmar youths more and better access to information and communications technology (ICT).
The centre includes mentorship and incubation support based on global good practices to enable budding entrepreneurs to innovate, collaborate, upscale and grow into successful social enterprises.
It aims to help young people learn advanced ICT skills and business models through specialised training programmes and networking opportunities.
Its members are expected to be able to respond to development challenges in several areas, including climate change, education, rural development, and women’s empowerment.
“We’ll help develop the ideas of aspiring entrepreneurs and technology developers in Myanmar with a goal of digital innovation,” Sethi said.
“We hope to introduce products and services at the end of this year by encouraging youths and women with technological support,” he added. – Translated
