GrabFood service to open in Mandalay

GrabFood service will start in Mandalay as part of the company’s expansion, said U Myat Kaung Min, head of GrabFood Myanmar.

It proved to be a hit during testing in Yangon in November, he said.

“Although food delivery services are increasing in the country, it is still less than in other countries,” U Myat Kaung Min said. “We have many chances to improve services.”

GrabFood is part of Grab Holdings Inc., a Singapore-based ridesharing company that offers food delivery and digital payment services via mobile phone apps.

Grab started offering car rentals in July 2017 in Myanmar, and Grab Taxi Call service and Premium Rentals (Beat) service in 2019.

It launched Grab Taxi Plus in 2018 and Grab Thone Bane in Mandalay and Bagan.

Grab’s daily rental rate increased 10 percent in 2019, and there are now more than 196,000 location points in the Grab app.

Grab plans to expand its transportation services to other major cities, and to increase its investment in Myanmar this year.

Founded in 2012, Grab has more than 166 million users in 339 cities in Myanmar, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
