SJ Myanmar Secures 6th Contract to Manage Jetty Construction

Surbana Jurong Myanmar has secured its sixth project to manage a jetty construction in Myanmar.Wilmar Myanmar Port Terminal (Thilawa) Limited commissioned SJ Myanmar to oversee the construction of the extension of the Wilmar Jetty in Thilawa, Yangon. The project aimed to include loading and barge platforms to the existing jetty structure. The upgrade enhanced the port terminal’s performance by enabling it to dock bulk carriers, oil tankers and even river barges.

Since 2017, SJ Myanmar has been working closely with various developers and contractors in the design and construction supervision of jetties, tank farms and related facilities. This recent win showed once again a strong recognition of SJ’s competency in the oil and gas sector in Myanmar.

First Mon State Investment Fair 2019

The first ever Mon State Investment Fair 2019 was successfully co-organized by SJ Myanmar, AJ Myanmar and Myat Padonmar, with the support of the Mon State Government.

The event, held on 29-30 November 2019, served as a venue for interaction and communication between investment-related authorities, local developers and potential investors. Attended by almost 300 guests, the forum gathered officials from Myanmar’s Union Government and the Mon State Government, and drew speakers from the public and private sectors.

The turnover of the Mon State Vision Plan 2035, which SJ Myanmar co-developed with the Mon State Government, was one of the event highlights. The Mon State Vision Plan consists of the proposed land use, background and key development opportunities in areas such as Mawlymine, Kyaikto, Bilugyun, and Ye. Valentine’s Day in SJ Myanmar

Surbana Jurong staff in Myanmar showed their love to colleagues during last month’s Valentine’s Day celebration by sending appreciation notes to each other.

The practice of writing thank you letters to colleagues during Valentine’s Day started in 2019. Anchored on one of the company’s core values – People – the gesture is seen by SJ Myanmar as one way of giving importance to colleagues in the office and in project sites.

To add excitement, Lee Leong Seng, General Manager SJ Myanmar, also gave roses to all female staff as well to the wives or girlfriends of their male counterparts.
