The Yangon Region Transport Authority (YRTA) said on April 26 that they may continue suspending Yangon-based highway bus services as the Yangon Region government extended curfews in the city for a further two months.
“We will continue to suspend the express bus services until the end of April, due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Currently, the express bus lines no longer run because of a lack of passengers,” U Maung Maung, secretary of the YRTA, said.
“As we consider suspending services for another two months, we’re not sure when the buses will resume. But we will notify the public if they want to further renew the suspension,” he added.
There are 146 express bus lines with 1651 buses within the Yangon Region, and 175 bus lines with 1417 buses based in other states and regions. – Translated
