doing business in myanmar – what you need to know as a singaporean
The Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) and the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) has issued guidelines on international visitors who want to return to Myanmar to conduct urgent business during the pandemic.
The two organisations have requested the government to allow foreign employees who are working in companies registered with the MIC and Myanmar Companies Online (MyCO) to fly back into Myanmar via relief flights.
Foreigners looking to fly back to Myanmar from overseas will be screened and scrutinised beforehand by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER) on whether they actually have urgent business in the country, the guideline said.
Foreign investors requesting recommendations and approval to return from the Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 and its related committees and ministries will only receive them after their reasons for returning have been scrutinised.
As the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population currently does not issue arrival visas for foreign travellers, international investors employed in companies registered under MIC and MyCO and are included as officers, members and their family members will need to contact the Myanmar embassies in their countries for relief flight arrangements and entering Myanmar.
MIC and DICA will scrutinise and respond to any matters raised by the related Myanmar embassies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and MIFER regarding the travellers,
the statement said.
