Geely Auto Enters Myanmar Brand New Car Market

Geely brand, ranked the 9th in the Portfolio Brand Value 2020 in the world evaluated by Brand Finance, will enter the Myanmar market and launch new models in partnership with Premier Automotive Limited (PAL), which is the integrated Automotive Corporation as a member of CDSG, the third biggest conglomerate in Myanmar.

Starting in 2020, PAL will open new 3S shops in Yangon and Mandalay to sell vehicles of Geely brand. The partnership will offer the latest Geely technologies, newest generation models, and world-class service to the customer in Myanmar. Together with PAL, Geely Auto aims to become one of top auto brands in the Myanmar market.

Geely Auto is a core subsidiary of Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding), a global automotive group with operations spanning the automotive value chain, from research, development and design to production, sales and servicing. Established in 1986 and entering the automotive industry in 1997, Geely Holding has since expanded significantly with controlling stakes in many established binternational brands and partnerships, such as 99% ownership of Volvo, a 51% controlling-stake in Lotus and a 9.7% stake in Daimler AG. In 2020, Mercedes-Benz and Geely Holding announced
formal establishment of the global joint venture “smart Automobile Co., Ltd.” for the smart brand.

In the partnership with Geely Auto, Premier Automotive Ltd will be responsible for the importation and distribution of Geely Auto branded vehicles. U Khin Tun, Managing Director of PAL said,“We are introducing the Geely Auto brand to Myanmar because of its advanced technology and high quality. Geely’s products have undergone extensive tests under harsh road conditions before being introduced to the market. They have undergone more than 50,000 hours (5.7 years) of testing in extreme weather conditions (temperatures between -40 and +60 degrees) and travelled over 12 million km in road tests, so we know the quality is very reliable. In terms of design, Geely’s latest models feature a youthful sporty design and has the latest safety features giving them a very premium vehicle feel. We are very proud to be able to partner with such a brand in Myanmar.”

The Geely brand’s first model to be available in the local market will be the Geely Coolray. The model will be presented in Myanmar in three trim levels with duel-color body – Comfort, Luxury and Sport at the price start from MMK 308 Lakhs.Based on the B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA) platform, jointly developed by Geely in close cooperation with Volvo, the Coolray utilizes a highly efficient 1.5TD engine providing 177hp and 255 N.m of torque with a 0-100km/hour acceleration of up to 7.9 seconds as well as top of its class handling. Inspired by the design concept of “Racing through Space and Time”, the Coolray design is sporty, dynamic and is able to distinguish itself with high-technical functions Automated Parking Assist (APA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and 360-degree camera. Equipped with CN95 filter, the Coolray’s body consists of as high as 70% high-strength steel and 20% hot-formed steel, overall making customers be safe, fun and bringing exciting experience in driving.
