AMATA is a public holding company whose core business is the management of resort hotels and hot air balloon services. It owns 99.99 percent of United International Group and 51pc of Myanmar Ballooning.

It is the leading manager and developer of mid to premium resorts, hotels and spas in the country. In addition to Awinka hotels, AMATA is also looking to expand its brand and is eyeing opportunities in the Myeik Archipelago.

There are however no concrete plans at the moment for the expansion due to adverse events in tourism and recreation, including political and other changes. AMATA added that the expansion will depend on a number of factors including location, among others.
