State-owned Myanmar Insurance Enterprise (MIE) has launched a Travel and Health Insurance (Thailand) service to cater to the needs of Myanmar workers employed in Thailand.
Thailand has imposed tougher travel restrictions on their visas due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the requirement of a health insurance plan of US$100,000 with at least six months validity.
The Myanmar government also plans to resume flights to their Southeast Asian neighbor, as such MIE has launched their Travel and Health Insurance (Thailand) service to facilitate the visa application process for those traveling to Thailand for scholarship programs, business, and work.
The company also plans to provide services where they can underwrite migrant workers in groups.
Insurers will have to pay a premium fee in US dollars, and a 10 percent discount will be given to the first 100 customers starting from January 5. -Translated
