Tourism companies are now offering more one-day trips near Yangon, in line with their increasing popularity.
“These trips are trending in Yangon. In the past, biking and hiking trips were only sold in rural areas. Now there are more (packages for short trips) and all the places are booked,” said IJM Travel &Your’s founder Daw Ingyin.
A short trip near the Yangon area ranges from K30,000 to K50000 per person. The destinations are farms and activities include horseback riding. fishing, rowing, biking and staying the night on
the property, among others.
“People are offering packages to kick off the travel season. Most people are travelling with groups of their own. There haven’t been any cases of people hiring cars for travel yet,” said U NyiNyi who operates a car rental business.
Tourism companies said that families are currently planning their own trips and do not employ services from travel agencies.
The Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association has made arrangements to incorporate agro-tourism in the Yangon Region, Bago Region, Kayah State, Chin State and Ayeyarwady Region.
The Association also plans to introduce trips to the Yangon River and resume packages to beaches, said the association’s members.
