Authorities extend restrictions on travellers’ entry to 31 Jan 2022

Authorities have extended restrictions on the entry of travellers until the end of January to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to the statement of Myanmar’s Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment for COVID-19.
Foreigners travelling for urgent reasons, including diplomatic issues, may contact a Myanmar diplomatic mission to receive an exemption. However, the travellers must produce a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken within 72 hours before arrival.
Besides, the flight suspensions have been also extended until 31 January 2022 to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Myanmar via air travel, according to the statement from the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Myanmar has received US$69.2 million as revenue from e-Visa and over 1.7 million tourists applied for e-Visa from 2016 to August 2020, according to the official data of the Ministry of Immigration and Population.
The Ministry of Immigration and Population is granting 14 types of entry visas. Of which, the on-arrival visa category was launched in 2012, it is learnt.
