Most of the OECD countries have lifted sanction against Myanmar. However the following sanctions still remain:
- Weapon sales to Myanmar are still prohibited by most Western countries.
- The US has lifted most economic and financial sanctions against Myanmar. Learn more at US terminated remaining sanctions against Myanmar on 7 Oct 2016
- US imposed sanction on General Maung Maung Soe for his role as army commander in Rakhine on 21st Dec 2017 under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act
- Canada has also imposed sanction on General Maung Maung Soe for his role in Rakhine on 16th Feb 2018
